Based in New York's Capital Region, Rusticator is an acoustic band with an Americana spirit. Stripped back drums and an upright bass lend a woody backbeat, while steady acoustic guitar supports jazz-inflected fiddle playing and the group’s three-part harmonies. Their eclectic yet accessible live sets include everything from the Grateful Dead and Bob Dylan to Ray Charles and Van Morrison alongside their well-crafted original songs. Featuring two music teachers, a brewer/minister and a regional philanthropy officer, Rusticator is a great example of how to turn your side hustle into something special. The band has self-released two albums of original music and is currently working on a third to be released in 2020.

The Insolent Willies are a Mohawk Valley-based acoustic roots-rock band known for its hip-shaking mix of quirky, clever original music and unpredictable covers. Founded in 2017 by Bill Ackerbauer (guitar, harmonica, fiddle) and Frank DeVer Pullen (bass, mandolin, banjo), the band has grown to include Paul Gavry (accordion, fiddle), Evan Gavry (dobro, keys, guitars), Chad Christman (drums, percussion) and Jennifer Harder (trumpet). Their original tunes are often played on WEXT radio, and the band has performed at dozens of venues (from pubs to festivals) from Cooperstown to Plattsburgh.

Durham County Poets 2.webp

Durham County Poets grew out of the lively music scene in Ormstown, Quebec, once called Durham. The five seasoned musicians, all of whom are also songwriters, work together individually and collaboratively in composing their music. Delving into a variety of styles and genres including blues, jazz and rock, their musical influences include a broad range, woven together to create their own authentic style. They have released 4 indie albums in 10 years with their latest-almost-all-blues effort receiving a JUNO nomination, followed by 2 Maple Blues nominations and a Canadian Folk Music Awards nomination.

Formed in early 2011 by original members Zack Hay (Guitar & Vocals), Colin Hunt (Bass), and Mark Retajczyk (Guitar & Vocals), The North & South Dakotas set out crafting a sound that paid homage to the spirit of old time american music, mountain folk, and singer-songwriter traditions.  Though the band spent many years as a five-piece with drummer Mike Graves, and the past two years as a more traditional bluegrass quartet with utility man Nayt Patenaude (Dobro, Banjo, Mandolin), the Dakotas continue on as an ever-rotating cast of string players from the Upstate NY region.  In this more intimate setting, the band continues to write original, genre-sweeping music that makes use of their trademark vocal harmonies and the musical sensibilities of each band member's different background
